Looking for a fun activity to do with your dog? Consider signing up for a dog agility class. It’s a great form of exercise for both you and your dog, a fun opportunity to meet other dogs and their owners and a terrific way to strengthen the connection you have with your pooch.
So what is it exactly? Dog agility events give you and your dog the chance to navigate a fun obstacle course while racing the clock. It’s a great way to work on conditioning, concentration and teamwork.1
Agility is not just a sport for athletic dogs. The United States Dog Agility Association notes, “dog agility is frequently referred to as a ‘sport for all dogs.’ Though many breeds appear more naturally adapted to the sport, more than 150 breeds (including mixed-breeds as a single group) have demonstrated their ability to perform well.”2
Classes for novices and even school-age children are available all across the country. Whether you do it competitively or just for fun, agility is a great way to spend time with your dog and provides an adventure that will stimulate and challenge you both.
